April is Volunteer Recognition Month!

5 Ways to Thank Volunteers in Your School and Community

  1. Add a “Salute to Our Volunteers” page on your school Web site, with each volunteer’s name, photo, and a message of thanks for how each makes a difference in your school.

  2. Create a digital slide show of volunteers in action in your community to post on your school and other community Web sites. Ask local businesses with display monitors in their lobbies to show the slide show during National Volunteer Week (April 27 to May 3).

  3. E-mail messages of appreciation to volunteer-based organizations in your community that help those in need, such as food banks, shelters, and children’s centers.

  4. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, thanking volunteers and urging more citizens of all ages to get involved as volunteers.

  5. Make oversized thank-you cards or “you’re the best” banners to deliver to community volunteers in the public library, the local hospital, coaches for sports teams, and others.

Congratulations and Thanks to Every Teen Volunteer!
